First Flight

Finished building her this afternoon. It was too
windy to test fly it, she only weighs less than 9 oz. So of course I did
anyway. Awesome fun! It had way more power than I expected--I am at over
4000 ft altitude. It was so breezy I had to land at nearly 3/4 throttle
but she handles great. Going backwards AND gaining altitude at half
throttle is a kick too! I need to increase the rudder throw, however,
because I was not able to do rolls with her in my two test flights.
The only major mod I made was to hollow out the instrument panel area so
that I could mount my 7 cell 300 mAh NiMh in the front cockpit. See
pictures. It is very easy to change batteries this way and it put the CG
right on for me. I am sure others have done this as well. Since the
aircraft isn't scale, I'm not so worried about the looks although its not
god-awful this way. I plan on making some decals with my inkjet todayThat's all for now.
